It's been seven days since Michael MacGregor was last seen in the Wairarapa's Mount Holdsworth and police haven't given up their search.

On Monday a police spokesperson said "sadly" MacGregor was not found over the weekend.

They said police along with Land Search and Rescue searched the ground over Mt Holdsworth's Totara Flats and Sayers Hutt areas - both a significant distance from where MacGregor was last seen at Rocky Lookout.

The spokesperson said police and LandSar will continue their search on Monday, with a small team searching above the Sayer Hutt area.

"Information continues to surface, and enquiries are conducted."

Police are again appealing for any information that could help them in locating MacGregor.

Those with information are urged to contact police on 105 and reference file number P055522968.

It comes after police widened their search for MacGregor on Friday, with teams searching the water near the Atiwhakatu Stream.

Newshub understands a large amount of MacGregor's whānau and friends spent the weekend in Mt Holdsworth searching for their loved one.
