Police are investigating the discovery of a body that was found in the Waikato River in Hamilton on Monday.
A member of the public alerted police there was a body in the water at around 5:30pm.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said the body had now been recovered from the river and they are making enquiries to determine their identity, notify their next of kin and determine the circumstances around their death.
This may take some time and more information would be provided once available, they added.
