Two people have died in Shannon, Horowhenua, following a crash between a car and a truck on Wednesday.
The crash happened at the intersection of State Highway 57 and Kara Road.
Police were initially called to the crash at about 3pm, and confirmed the deaths just before 9pm.
Hāto Hone St John sent one ambulance and a rapid response vehicle to the crash site.
The road remains closed while police continue their investigation.
