A man was shot and seriously injured at a 'gentleman's club' in the early hours of Friday.
Det Insp Chris Barry, of Auckland, said the offender is still at large and officers are working to track them down.
At about 1:57am on Friday, emergency services swarmed One33 club on Vincent St following reports of a man with a gunshot wound.
Footage captured by Newshub shows police officers setting up a cordon and standing guard at the scene.
Barry said the victim was taken to hospital in a serious condition, where he remains.
Officers are working to understand what exactly led to the man being seirously injured and are asking anyone with information to come forward, Barry said.
"While the investigation is still in the early stages, we believe this is an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public."
Barry said officers are "working hard" to identify those responsible.
