Late night argument fuelled by alcohol turns violent in Auckland, neighbour's door damaged

Police have arrested two people in Auckland overnight after an argument turned violent, which they say was fuelled by alcohol.

Counties Manukau West police Acting Inspector Steve Albery said staff were called to an address on Reagan Rd in Papatoetoe at about 10:30pm on Tuesday.

Insp Albery said an argument had broken out at the property which caused a "disturbance to neighbours".

But the incident escalated when the occupants made verbal threats towards their neighbours, before damaging a door on their property.

A fight then broke out, where numerous police staff responded to break it up.

Insp Albery said alcohol was a factor in the "disappointing behaviour" that unfolded on Tuesday night.

As a result, a 22-year-old man has been charged with wilful damage and is expected to appear in the Manukau District Court next week.

Another person was arrested at the address for breach of bail conditions.
