Thousands feel lower North Island quake

An early morning 3.6 magnitude earthquake has rattled Wellington.

GeoNet's website says the quake struck at about 8:55am on Tuesday morning at a magnitude of 3.6 and at depth of 17km. It struck 5km south of Upper Hutt.

So far 2603 people have reported feeling the quake, many of which said it was weak to light.
