Baby death in Papakura: Police not treating it as suspicious, death referred to coroner

The investigation into the death of a baby found in an Auckland property is not considered suspicious, and the matter has been referred to the coroner.

Police were called to an address on south Auckland's Red Hill Rd, Papakura, at 4:46am on Monday where the baby had been "located deceased", a spokesperson said.

The death was being treated as "unexplained" by police on Monday.

A police spokesperson told Newshub on Tuesday that "Police are not treating this death as suspicious and the matter will be referred to the Coroner".
