A body has been found in the water north of Muriwai Beach on Sunday morning.
Police say the person was found dead by a member of the public on Auckland's west coast around 10:40am.
In a statement, a spokesperson said enquiries are being undertaken to identify them, notify their next of kin, and establish the circumstances of their death.
No further information is available at this stage, they added.
