Police searching for woman after man's unexplained death at house in Auckland's Ellerslie

Police are searching for a 67-year-old woman after a man died at a house in central Auckland on Monday night.  

Police said officers were called to a property on Celtic Cres in Ellerslie just before 8pm after "a man [was] found unresponsive at the address".

Det Insp Scott Beard, of Auckland City, said the 66-year-old man's death was being treated as "unexplained".

In an update on Tuesday afternoon, Det Insp Beard they would like to hear from anyone who has seen or heard from Mei Han Chong, 67.

Chong is described as of Asian descent, small in stature and has short dark grey hair and will likely be wearing glasses. 

"Police will look to issue a photo of Mei as soon as possible," Det Insp Beard said.  

Police are continuing to appeal for information or sightings of a blue Kia Rio, registration NJN927, which was last seen at the Celtic Crescent address.

"Our focus remains on establishing the circumstances surrounding the death," Det Insp Beard said. 

"A scene examination is continuing this afternoon at the address and is expected to go on into tomorrow."  

Police expect a post-mortem examination to be completed on Wednesday.  

Det Insp Beard added a scene guard remains in place and the public can expect to see an increased Police presence in the area while enquiries continue. 

"Anyone with information that may assist with our enquiries is asked to contact Police via 105, quoting file number 231106/8053," Det Insp Beard said. 

"Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."
