German Shepherd survives car crash on Auckland's Āwhitu Peninsula, police seek help reuniting it with owner

Police officers have rescued a German Shepherd from the scene of a crash on the Āwhitu Peninsula.    

At about 4:40am on Friday, officers found a car that had rolled off Āwhitu Rd and crashed near Pollok, north of Waiuku.    

"The German Shepherd was found hanging around the vehicle" and the driver was unaccounted for, police said.   

Officers had the dog checked and it is thankfully uninjured.    

They kept the dog with them at the Pukekohe Police station before moving it to the Manukau Animal Shelter.    

Police investigations are still underway as they seek the driver of the crashed vehicle.
