A person has died after a crash on a highway in Bay of Plenty today.
Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle collision on SH29, Lower Kaimai at 12:16pm Thursday.
In an update just after 6:30pm, police confirmed one person had died in the crash.
A second person was critically injured, and a third had moderate injuries, police said.
The road was closed for just over six hours. It is now open.
This is the second serious crash in the Bay of Plenty in 24 hours. On Wednesday night, a person died after a crash in Mount Maunganui.
The holiday road toll sits at nine.
