A woman has suffered critical injuries after what's described as an animal incident in Waikato's Mangatangi this afternoon.
St John received reports of an animal attack at 3:50pm on Sunday, a spokesperson said.
They later clarified it was an incident involving a horse, and no one was bitten.
A Waikato Rescue Helicopter, ambulance, rapid response car, first response car and a St John manager are currently at the scene, along with a critical support vehicle.
"We assessed and treated one patient who is being airlifted to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition," a spokesperson said.
