Police held a media conference on Saturday afternoon, after a man's body was found in Ōtautahi/Christchurch earlier this week.
His body was discovered at a property on Carisbrooke Street, Aranui on Thursday, and on Friday he was named as David Karl Bridgwater, 38.
Officers are treating his death as a homicide.
It comes after armed police swarmed another property on the same street earlier on Saturday.
Detective Inspector Nicola Reeves is expected to speak to reporters at 4pm.
