Police have named Tegan Ariel Chen as the girl who drowned in a creek in Fiordland last week.
The 10-year-old girl was visiting from Australia when she was swept away in the fast-flowing Marian Creek at around 11.40am Thursday.
She was found and taken out of the water a short time later and despite CPR being performed, she was unable to be revived.
"Our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly difficult time," a police spokesperson said.
The investigation into Tegan's death is ongoing.
