Police respond to serious incidents in New Lynn and Mount Wellington

A road has reopened in west Auckland after police spent several hours attempting to resolve an incident.

A section of Portage Road in New Lynn was closed from about 3am this morning while armed police responded.

Inspector Rod Carpinter said police responded to an incident involving two parties known to each other, with one person being "safely removed from the address".

It was believed a second person remained inside the property and specialist teams, including armed police, were called in.

The road had reopened by 8am and the police response had been scaled down but armed officers remained at the property.

A police spokesperson confirmed enquiries are ongoing to find the second person.

Second serious incident in Auckland

Specialist police teams also responded to a second serious incident in Auckland.

Around 6:15am, police responded to reports of a person being aggressive towards a person known to them in Mount Wellington.

A police spokesperson says due to the nature of the report, specialist teams responded and apprehended the male.

No one was injured and charges are still being considered.
