Two injured in South Auckland stabbing

Two people have been injured, one critically, after a stabbing in South Auckland. 

Emergency services responded to the intersection of Great South Road and Nelson Street in Papakura around 11:40am this morning.

One person was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition with a stab wound, while a second person received moderate injuries. 

Hato Hone St John sent five vehicles to the scene, including one ambulance, a first responder, two rapid response vehicles and a manager. 

A large number of police officers could be seen carrying out enquiries at the scene, with specalist officers appearing to be looking for evidence on the footpath.

Police also cordoned off a nearby property on Nelson Street.

Auckland Transport has confirmed that Great North Road was closed, between Nelson Street and Chapel Street.

Police say they're not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident, and are warning local residents that there will be an increased police presence while enquiries are carried out.
