Roads are closed in parts of Auckland after a "sudden death" on Tuesday morning.

Police confirmed a person had died following an "incident" in the Auckland suburb of Parnell.

A police spokesperson said officers have cordoned an area off after there had been concerns for a person's wellbeing.

The spokesperson said there are no suspicious circumstances relating to the death, which will be referred to the Coroner.

"Our thoughts are with those involved in today's incident," the spokesperson said.

Cordons will remain in place at sections of York St, Fox St, Eglon St, Earle St, Bradford St and Bath St.

Auckland Transport (AT) warned motorists to expect delays if they're driving near the cordon.

"A number of roads around the Parnell area remain closed due to an ongoing police issue," AT said.

"Please avoid this area or expect delays with diversions in place affecting all traffic, including bus services."
