Six people injured after crashing into creek in Bay of Plenty

Six people have been injured after crashing into a creek on State Highway 2 in the Bay of Plenty on Sunday evening.  

A police spokesperson said the single-vehicle crash occurred at around 7:20pm near The Monument on Waioeka Road, between Wairata Road and Matawai Road. 

The spokesperson said six people were in the vehicle when it left the road and crashed into a creek.  

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson told Newshub it responded to the crash with two helicopters, two ambulances and a manager.

The spokesperson said crews assessed six people at the scene, transporting two in a serious condition to Whakatāne Hospital by helicopter.

Two others were in a moderate condition and two were in a minor condition. All four were taken to Whakatāne Hospital by ambulance.
