Three men arrested in Auckland after police chase stolen car through Avondale, New Lynn

Three men have been arrested after allegedly stealing a car and fleeing from police in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland on Saturday. 

A police spokesperson said they were told about three men "wearing masks and acting suspiciously" inside a car on Maple St, Avondale at about 11:20am. 

Officers subsequently confirmed the car had been stolen. 

It was spotted again 20 minutes later on nearby Rosebank Rd and then Great North Rd. 

The Eagle helicopter assisted officers in tracking the car to LynnMall in New Lynn but the three men abandoned the car at about 11:50am, the spokesperson said. 

Newshub understands at least half a dozen police cars were pursuing the car at once. 

The men were taken into custody at LynnMall and charges are still being considered.
