Woman, 24, charged with murder after man found unresponsive in Hamilton driveway

A 24-year-old woman was charged with murder on Friday after a man died in Kirikiriroa/Hamilton three weeks ago.

Detective Senior Sergeant Terri Wilson said the investigation into the death is still active, and police are appealing to the public to come forward if they have any information.

"We are continuing to make enquiries, but also want to encourage anyone with information to get in contact with us as even the smallest detail could assist our investigation."

What happened? 

On December 29, police were alerted to a man found unresponsive on the driveway of a Melville home.

Hāto Hone St John and police attended, but the man was later pronounced dead.

"We know this will have been a shock to the community, however we would like to reassure them this was an isolated incident," said Det Snr Sgt Wilson.

"This is a tragic event, and we are ensuring there is support in place for those closest to the victim."

The accused woman appeared in the Kirikiriroa/Hamilton District Court on Friday and has been granted name suppression.

She's due to reappear in court in three weeks.
