An investigation is underway after human remains were found at a beach near Wellington yesterday.
Police were called at 10:50am Wednesday after what they believed to be human remains near the Whitireia Park walkway in Tītahi Bay, Porirua.
Police have subsequently confirmed the remains are human.
A police spokesperson said officers will be in the area on Thursday morning to conduct a scene examination and work is under way to establish the identity of the deceased.
