A man has been arrested on Tuesday following a police car pursuit through the suburbs of Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland.

It happened after he allegedly failed to stop his vehicle for police on Alpers Ave in Epsom at about 11.30pm on Monday, a police spokesperson told Newshub.

The driver then fled to the North Shore, where he was seen "driving dangerously through a number of suburbs", the spokesperson said.

Officers spiked the vehicle, which was then dumped on the northbound Greville Rd on-ramp in Pinehill. The man was eventually arrested nearby.

Social media users who live in the area have described hearing the commotion.

"We heard it was super hectic sounding have been waiting for a post to see what it was," said one Reddit user.

"Heard the helicopter. Looks like they had fun chasing them down the northwestern [motorway]," another wrote.

A 34-year-old has been charged with driving-related charges and is due to appear at the Auckland District Court on February 28.
