Pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by car on Auckland's Northwestern Motorway

A pedestrian has been left seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in Auckland's Spaghetti Junction last night. 

Emergency services attended the scene on the Hobson St on-ramp just after 9pm with police officers seen scanning the road with torches for evidence. 

"At around 9.35pm, emergency services responded to reports of a pedestrian hit by a car on Union Street," a police spokesperson told Newshub. 

Sections of the Northwestern Motorway could be seen with pools of blood, which were cordoned off with emergency tape and cones.

"The victim was transported to hospital in a serious condition," they said. 

Police told Newshub on Monday that enquiries into the incident are ongoing. 

Police are speaking with the driver and the Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
