A man has been critically injured after falling from a balcony on Auckland's Queen St on Saturday morning.
Emergency services responded to a call at about 10:10am.
"He is in a critical, but stable, condition at Auckland Hospital," Det Snr Sgt Greg Brand confirmed on Saturday afternoon.
There was a police cordon outside the Quest Hotel on Queen St and a tourist who is staying there earlier told Newshub he came out in the morning and saw a man lying on the ground.
"I just came out I was about to leave and there was a guy lying on the ground on his back in a lot of pain. There were some support staff helping him, I am not sure if he hurt his head," the tourist said. "It is a bit of a shock."
Brand said officers are investigating "the circumstances leading to the man falling.
"At this time, no more information is available."
