An armed robber has raided a restaurant in south Auckland overnight, fleeing the scene with a "quantity" of cash, police say.
The robbery took place at about 9:40pm at the Chicking restaurant on Great South Rd, Takanini.
An investigation is now underway and police said officers are trying to track down who was responsible.
"It is understood one person has entered the premises, presented a weapon (not a firearm), and demanded money from a staff member," a police spokesperson said.
"Thankfully, the staff member was not injured, however, they are understandably shaken, and police are providing support.
