Man charged with murder over fatal Christchurch stabbing keeps name a secret

The 67-year-old man accused of stabbing a person to death overnight in Christchurch has kept his name a secret.

Officers were called to a property on Hereford Street just after 10pm Sunday following reports of a man being stabbed. The 22-year-old man died a short time later.  

Police confirmed on Monday morning a 67-year-old man has now been charged with murder.

He appeared via video link in the Christchurch District Court on Monday afternoon.

No plea was entered and he will remain in custody until his next court appearance next month.
