MediaWorks is investigating a potential data breach after a hacker claims to have stolen information on 2.4 million people from the company.
The hacker is offering the information for sale on the dark web, saying it has citizen's names, addresses, mobile numbers, email addresses and other private information.
The post also says the hacker has information on how people voted on the popular TV series The Block.
A MediaWorks spokesperson told the Herald "On Friday MediaWorks became aware of claims that it had been impacted by a cyber security incident. MediaWorks takes data security seriously and our technology team is investigating this potential incident with the support of external experts."
MediaWorks and the Police have been approached for comment.
