One person has died after a car and motorbike collided in Auckland this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the crash just after 5:50pm Wednesday on Rimu Street, near Nikau Street, New Lynn.

Police said one person was transported to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing," a police spokesperson said.

The road remains blocked as police, including the Serious Crash Unit, conduct a scene examination.

Police are appealing for any sightings of a Harley Davidson Motorbike driving dangerously between Great North Road, Rata Street, and Rimu Street prior to the crash.

"If you have any CCTV footage or sighted the vehicle prior to the crash please contact Police on 105," the spokesperson said.
