Police have asked the public for sightings of a white flat-deck truck after a "concerning incident" in west Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland earlier this week, during which a man allegedly grabbed a schoolgirl.

A driver, described as a Pākehā/European man in his 50s, allegedly drove next to the school-aged girl and grabbed her by the arm in Titirangi on Tuesday.

It happened on South Titirangi Rd, near the Tinopai Rd intersection at about 4:30pm.

"She managed to break free of his grasp and run home, and police are seeking sightings and footage of this truck," said acting Det Snr Sgt Ben Bergin.

"The truck is described as a white-coloured, flat deck... that has sign writing on its side," he added.

Bergin asked anyone who's seen a truck matching the description in Titirangi, Green Bay or New Lynn on Tuesday afternoon to get in touch with police.

He said that extends to people driving in the Titirangi area at the time, who may have dash camera footage.

"Anyone with recorded CCTV home security footage that has views of the road in Titirangi at around 4pm on Tuesday is also asked to contact the investigation team."
