Emergency services have been called to a "serious" crash that has blocked State Highway 1 in Canterbury.
The crash, involving a truck and three cars, occurred around 3:30pm Friday at the intersection with Laings Road near Tinwald, police said.
"One person is reported to have serious injuries and the road is expected to be blocked for several hours," a police spokesperson said.
Police said detours are in place and motorists should expect delays.
