Commercial fishing vessel refloated after running aground in Hauraki Gulf

A commercial fishing vessel that ran aground at The Noises, in the Hauraki Gulf, in the early hours of Monday morning has been refloated.

The incident happened just before 3:45am and there are no reports of injury among the 27 on board.

An Auckland Transport (AT) spokesperson said they had spoken with the Harbourmaster who was inbound to Auckland.

In an update, the harbourmaster said the vessel has been re-floated and is being assessed for damage. 

Tug boats could be seen at the scene helping with the recovery.

If given the all-clear, it will be able to resume its journey to Auckland.

Auckland Transport said it had not identified any oil spillage.

Police have asked the public to stay away from the area.
