A homicide investigation is underway after the death of a man in the Taranaki town of Hāwera overnight following serious injuries.
Police are making enquiries into the death, after receiving reports of a disorder event at a property on Gladstone Road just after 10:15pm.
Detective Senior Sergeant Debbie Gower said the man "sustained serious injuries."
"Police will remain at the scene conducting a scene examination and further enquires," he said.
"A post-mortem examination will be completed in the next few days."
