A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a for-sale designer watch during a Facebook Marketplace transaction in Auckland.
The man and an associate went to the victim's house in Pakuranga on April 6 after the seller "arranged for what he thought would be a legitimate buyer".
He went inside to view the Rolex and, while doing so, the associate allegedly stormed into the property and "pointed an object at the victim making him think it was a weapon", according to Detective Sergeant James Mapp, of Counties Manukau.
They're then accused of fleeing the scene with the Rolex.
"Over the weekend, we executed a search warrant at a Pakuranga address," Det Sgt Mapp said.
"At the address, a man was located and arrested without incident.
"We were also fortunate to have located the watch at the property and this has been recovered.
"This serves as a reminder for all of us to be vigilant when buying or selling goods online, particularly with Facebook Marketplace."
