A 56-year-old man has appeared in court this morning following the alleged abduction attempt of an Auckland high school student.
The man, who has interim name suppression, is charged with assaulting a female.
It comes after West Auckland's Green Bay High School posted a message on Facebook last month, alleging a man had attempted to abduct a student on March 19.
When he was arrested over Easter weekend, Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldie said police had followed up on information from the public about a vehicle of interest.
"We believe there have been similar approaches in the West Auckland area over the last several months, and we encourage members of our community who have knowledge of these incidents to please contact police," she said.
Today the 56-year-old man was remanded without plea to reappear in the Waitakere District Court later this month.
