An investigation is underway at a central Auckland bar after a robbery and assault overnight.
Police were called to F Bar in Kingsland at around 3am after a group of "unknown people" entered the premises.
A spokesperson says the group took a "number of items" before assaulting a member of the public and fleeing in a vehicle.
The car was found abandoned a short time later and has been taken away for a forensic examination.
Two police officers remained on guard outside the bar shortly after 7am Friday.
The injured person received medical treatment and is recovering in a stable condition.
Police said their investigation into the circumstances, including finding those who are responsible, is ongoing.
