There is a large police presence at a Porirua petrol station on Tuesday morning.
A nearby business said police have cordoned off the entrance of Mobil Cannons Creek and there appears to be some damage to the front of the building.
Police said one person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries and an investigation is underway into how they became injured.
No further information was available.
