Josh Junior

Age: 31

Born: December 22, 1989

Event: Finn

Coach: Andy Maloney

Junior only won selection for Tokyo after a close head-to-head contest with friend/rival Andy Maloney for the one NZ spot available in Finn class.

Teammates on Team NZ's America's Cup defence, the pair have worked together to prepare for Tokyo, knowing one of them would miss out on selection.

Junior finished second at the 2015 world championship and beat Andrew Murdoch for selection to Rio 2106, where he finished seventh.

He won the world title in 2019, becoming the first Kiwi sailor to do so, but finished third this year, behind Maloney and Spain's Joan Cardona.

Regardless of that result, Junior got the nod over Maloney, who will travel to Tokyo as Finn coach.
