Gowler has a great chance of two rowing gold medals at Tokyo, teaming with Grace Prendergast in a world champion pair and joining a world champion eight, along with younger sister Jackie.

She started out as an equestrian rider and switched to rowing at Nga Tawa Diocesan School at Marton.

Gowler began her international career as part of the NZ eight that won a 2013 world championship 'B' final and finished fourth at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

In between, she was part of a coxless four that won the 2014 world title, and joined Prendergast for a pairs crown in 2017, which they lost a year later (finishing second) and regained in 2019.

Both were also members of the winning eight at Ottensheim, Austria, and have been named in a squad of 10 that will contest the big-boat race at Tokyo.
