Tokyo Olympics: New Zealand women's crew miss medal spot in K4 500 final

The New Zealand women's K4 500m tea narrowly missed out on winning a medal in the final on Saturday 

Lisa Carrington, Alicia Hoskin, Caitlin Regal, Teneale Hatton finished fourth, behind winners Hungary, silver medallists Belarus and third-placed Poland.

The Kiwi crew made a blazing start and, but had faded to third spot after 250 metres, and the fast-finishing Poles ran down New Zealand in the final 100m to claim bronze by seven-tenths of a second.

New Zealand earlier finished second in their semifinal, behind Poland, while Hungary narrowly won their semifinal ahead of Germany and Belarus.

It was the fourth and final event of Carrington's Tokyo Olympics and the only event she did not win gold in after her K1 200, K1 500 and K2 500 (with Caitlin Regal) victories.
