Watching his teammate conquer the UFC has inspired heavyweight boxing contender Junior Fa.
The Kiwi slugger was cage side for Israel Adesanya’s interim middleweight title win in Atlanta two weeks ago.
Adesanya’s last round heroics has justified for Fa, all the hard work they put in at the City Kickboxing Gym in Auckland.
"I saw that as a massive lesson for all of us in the gym,” he told Fight Club.
“All of us have the same type of training programme as Izzy, but it is tailored for each individual depending on your sport, be it MMA, boxing or kickboxing.
"But seeing him go through that fifth round, I mean yes we have seen that in training, but that was so inspiring to see what we are taught in training transferred into a fight.”
This week on Fight Club, Fa breaks down the emotions he felt during and after the five-round war, and also discusses sparring partner Deontay Wilder’s chances of defending his WBC crown next month.
