Winston Peters has unveiled an ambitious plan for New Zealand First over the next two and a half years.

He wants to lift party membership by more than 10,000, or he will resign and he is also looking at doubling MP numbers.

Mr Peters has told supporters in Rotorua for the party's annual conference, the next election will be a three-horse race between him, Labour and National.

"The days of us are not going for broke and getting the maximum we could get are over. That's what this convention is about. So 15 would be way less then we want."

Mr Peters says the Green Party will be gone at the next election.
