Head to head with New Zealand's current flag, none of the options on offer to replace it stand a chance, according to a new survey.
The UMR Research survey, carried out on 1000 people this month, shows of the five referendum designs, the red and blue Kyle Lockwood fern came the closest with 36 percent in favour of it over the current one.
Through a transferable voting process, it was also found to be the most preferred out of all the alternative designs, ahead of the blue and black fern design.
Red Peak, which Parliament recently allowed to become a fifth option in the referendum, was the third most preferred.
