Trade Minister Tim Groser has officially opened New Zealand's diplomatic mission to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta.
He says it's a significant demonstration of New Zealand's commitment to the region.
"ASEAN is now home to around 625 million people and has a combined GDP of US$2.4 trillion (NZ$3.5 trillion)," he said.
"It's now the seventh largest economy in the world and New Zealand's fourth largest trading partner."
This year marks the 40th anniversary of New Zealand's formal relationship with ASEAN.
