The redevelopment of two Auckland schools has been boosted by nearly $12 million so they can cope with unexpected roll growth.
Associate Education Minister Nikki Kaye says Waterview Primary School will be getting an extra $6.8M, bringing the total cost of the project to $17M.
An extra $5M will go to Freemans Bay School, taking the total cost of that project to $18m.
"In the communities served by these schools, updated demographic information shows there will be more school-aged children than was forecast when the redevelopments were originally approved," Ms Kaye said today.
Projections indicate that in Auckland there will be an extra 107,000 school students over the next 30 years.
