The final contender to take on the current New Zealand flag has been chosen.
The dust hasn't quite settled for the blue and black silver fern design by Kyle Lockwood and its red counterpart could still take out the top spot after the final votes are counted.
New Zealanders now have to choose which of the two flags they prefer in the second referendum in March.
The preliminary results were out on Friday, with a 48.16 percent voter turnout and around 10 percent which were informal or invalid.
The Electoral Commission is expected to announce the final results tomorrow.
