The Children's Commissioner has slammed the Government, saying they must set a target to reduce child poverty and says their own data shows the number of children being hospitalised and dying is not reducing.

Russell Wills has also revealed concerns about children's care in CYF's residences but because of budget constraints he is only able to monitor them every 18 months.

Social development minister Anne Tolley joined Paul Henry to discuss the issue.

She says the Government's trying to grow the economy to get people into work but there is no quick fix.
