State-owned Solid Energy bosses have reiterated to a Parliamentary select committee further redundancies at the embattled company are inevitable.

A total of 64 percent of mine jobs have been lost at the company since 2012.

Company chair Andy Coupe says redundancies need to be looked at in context of the struggling industry. Globally, only two-thirds of coal mines are unprofitable.
