A petition signed by nearly 11,000 Kiwis will be presented today at parliament calling for Pharmac to fund a melanoma wonder drug.

Pembrolizumab, also known as Keytruda, is expensive, costing over $10,000 a month and Pharmac have chosen not to fund it.

The petition seeks the House of Representatives approve extra funding to Pharmac so that the drug pembrolizumab can be made available to all New Zealanders with advanced melanoma, regardless of socio-economic status.

Labour’s deputy leader Annette King and Health minister Jonathan Coleman joined Paul Henry to debate the issue.
