Opinion: 10 MPs who may need their Twitter confiscated

(AAP)

In a world where everything is so meticulously media managed, scrolling through a Twitter feed with free and frank chat from politicians is actually quite refreshing.

However, the downfalls of MPs having free rein over their social media accounts was blown open this week after Steven Joyce blurted out a $92 million Government secret.

But he's not the only MP who's gone rogue - let's take a look at some others who probably should have their Twitter keys confiscated by their press secretaries.

While he might have blabbed a Government secret this time around, this most definitely isn't the first time Steven Joyce has got lippy online.

He loves a good bit of Twitter sass. Actually he'd probably fight the press secretary who tried to wrestle his account off him.

Leave it with him, it's bloody entertaining.

Rule No. 47 in politics: Don't blame the media.

Andrew Little is a repeat offender. Last time he had a go at us, it didn't go well - although there was a peaceful resolution.

However his Twitter feed is more entertaining than the Prime Minister's very carefully managed one, so maybe he can keep the keys - he might just need a backseat driver to accompany him.

Who can forget the epic Hunt For The Wilderpeople rampage Metiria went on?

Well, actually, considering the booze and blackouts on Twitter, maybe she forgot all about it.

Pretty funny most of the time - but if she's getting hammered she has a bit of a tendency to get snarky rather than stay classy.

Keep cool, PB.

Great tweeter in general - he's got a sharp sense of humour and snaps great pics too.

However if he doesn't like something, he'll sure as hell let the Twitterverse know.

A glance over his tweets seems to show he's a bit trigger-happy when it comes to the block button too.

Fiery Grant - he's almost certainly going to slip right into Steven Joyce's "bulldog" chair if Labour wins the next election.

He's got a billion targets and he's forever on the attack - it must be exhausting.

Although his constant jabbing exposed Joyce's $92m tweet, so...

Dear Judith. We miss your stroppy rants on Twitter.

You're a lot more conservative these days, ever since the Prime Minister told you off. #BringBackJudith.

Older tweets are all gone - although we also love the various sporting updates.

He's possibly the most prolific tweeter in Parliament... aside from Grant, perhaps.

He throws some mad shade from his spot on National's backbench.

She's a dark horse.

Creeps up and cuts with a sharp tongue when you're least expecting it.

Okay, let's be honest - we can go a bit rogue sometimes too.

Someone should probably take the keys...
