Christchurch residents warned to boil cloudy water

Some Christchurch residents have been told to boil their drinking water after complaints of cloudy tap water in the Avonhead-Russley area.

The Christchurch City Council is flushing out the water network and has shut down the pump station believed to be responsible for the discolouration.

Residents are advised to run outside taps for more than 15 minutes to get rid of the cloudiness.

The council has collected test samples to determine the cause of the problem, and the results are expected back tomorrow.
